Parents are key supporters of reading development and one way to get parents involved in the reading development of their children is through an activity that the whole family can do together. I bring you, Family Reading Bingo.
Name of activity: Family Reading Bingo
Description of activity with enough details for parents to implement at home:It’s time to enjoy some reading at home with your whole family. Below is a Bingo board of fun reading activities that you can do as a whole family. Complete a bingo and turn it in for a special prize! Get a blackout and have lunch with me and a friend! Have fun reading!
Goal for the activity – outcomes in general terms:Have the familiesfindnew and exciting ways to practice their reading at home. Help them to see that reading isn’t only in a book.
When this would be shared with parents: This will be sent home before Thanksgiving break and not due until after winter break. It will allow the students to read with many family members.
How/where you will distribute this activity or idea to all your parents:I will distribute this activity in class and also email it home to parents.
