University-of-the-Pacific

The University of the Pacific is a nationally recognized university with three campuses in Northern California. The Center for Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) at the University of the Pacific is committed to extending learning opportunities by delivering high-quality professional development courses for K-12 educators to help achieve professional advancement and improve the educational experience for communities throughout the country.

Learners Edge partners with CPCE to offer professional development programming where students can earn graduate-level professional development units (PDUs) for successful completion of applicable coursework. PDUs are post-baccalaureate professional development coursework designed specifically for graduate level educators and administrators. Semester units (hours) of non-degree graduate level credit are awarded for successful completion of coursework. In additional these courses will be listed on a University transcript but are not applicable to any graduate degree at the University of the Pacific.

Continuing education graduate credit is intended to fulfill requirements for license renewal/lane change when the student has obtained proper prior approval.

Grades and Transcripts

Learners Edge does not process transcripts. Please allow 10 business days after receiving your Learners Edge course completion email for your registration information and grade to be available at University of the Pacific. 

NOTES: (1) Please do not order or request transcripts from University of the Pacific until you have contacted the registrar's office to ensure all grades and courses are listed before requesting (contact information below).

(2) Learners Edge courses are considered graduate credit and will be listed on an Official Transcript in the category of Professional Development.

Specific Steps/Timelines

  • Transcripts with courses and academic grades for graduate credit are issued by:

  • It is recommended that your completed coursework be submitted to Learners Edge at least 30 days prior to your transcript deadline.
  • Learners Edge will evaluate all coursework within 7-10 business days of its submission to Learners Edge.
  • If you have provided Learners Edge with a valid email address, you will receive an email notification of course completion. If you are registered for multiple courses, you will receive multiple emails of completion.
  • Learners Edge will submit your registration information and grade(s) to University of the Pacific.
  • Please allow ten days for the University of the Pacific to send an unofficial transcript upon each grade being processed. Please contact Records Coordinator, Deborah Aragon-Niswonger at 209-946-2424 with questions.
  • Students may obtain official University of the Pacific electronic and paper transcripts, for a fee, through the National Student Clearinghouse. Please follow directions for Professional Development Students. 
  • If you have any questions related to your student record, academic grade(s), and/or transcript request(s), please submit your email inquiry to Macie Luallen at 209-946-2424. A response can be expected within 24 hours.

Taxes

Tax Information

Students taking Learners Edge courses for credit through University of the Pacific are considered non-degree seeking students and therefore University of the Pacific does not provide IRS Form 1098-T. Issuance of IRS Form 1098-T is only provided for degree seeking students. University of the Pacific encourages students to seek advice from a competent professional tax advisor regarding the taxation implications of education related expenses.
