Pathway 3: Coordinate Graduate Credit for School/District PD Offered

In most districts across the country, offering professional development for graduate credit is a huge incentive for teachers. Learner’s Edge can work with our array of accredited university partners to extend affordable graduate credit to courses/trainings you already provide (or are hoping to provide).

Question: Can you provide some examples of how this will help my district?

Example 1:  Your district offers a slate of 6 in-district courses for clock hours, but you would like to see additional teachers register for these courses. Learner’s Edge can coordinate graduate credit options for these courses, which will help drive enrollment numbers.

Example 2:  Perhaps your district is sponsoring a literacy workshop or training on bully-free schools and is looking for ways to encourage teachers to apply their workshop learning in the classroom.

Learner's Edge will custom-design graduate credit coursework where teachers integrate these new concepts in their work with students. Teachers will apply workshop strategies directly with their students, create new lessons, and evaluate student achievement - while earning valuable graduate credit in the process.

In this manner, Learner's Edge can create extension coursework to help districts or individual schools realize their broader staff development goals. Coursework is customized for your particular training and is designed to extend workshop learning by helping teachers integrate newly learned concepts and strategies in their classrooms.

Because the individual teacher pays for the graduate credit, there are no additional costs to the district.

Advantages:
• Capitalize on training you already do (or are planning)
• Incentivize training you already do (or are planning )
• No cost to district
