Currently in my class, I do an activity with the students about decision making We first dicuss the steps to making good decisions and then i break them into groups and give each group a scenerio to act out using the steps of decision making. After reading the book on bullying, I am going to include a scenerio about bullying and how to handle the situation.

Materials:
Overhead or handout with steps of decision making
4-5 desicion making senerios written on a note card (number depends on how many groups are in your class)

*For the scenerios, I try to think of decisions that they are currently faced with, not something that they will have to decide in a few years. Topics include: stealing, drugs, cheating, rumors, bullying, etc.

The next time I do this lesson, I will include a scenerio about bullying. Example: You are walking down the hall and notice a small crowd gathering around 2 people. In the middle of the crowd you see one of your friends yelling at the new kid. He is saying some very mean things to him and things are starting to get out of control. Everyone in the crowd is laughing and watching the situation. What do you do?

Before this lesson, I talk to the kids about their personal values and they do an activity that helps them decide what their values are. When we do the decision making activity, I remind the students to keep in mind their own personal values while making the decision.

Directions:
1. Split students into 4-5 groups
2. Give each group a note card
3. Give the students a few minutes to read the situation and think about it
4. Have the students write down the steps to decision making. Next to each step, have the student write down what their choices are in the given situation
5. The students will come up with a final decision based on their personal values and what they think is the write thing to do
6. Give students no more then 10 minutes to come up with a little skit that will show their situation to the class and show the class what their final decision is
7. Have each group present their skit and discuss the outcome of each
